FAQs
Before you contact us, you might want to see if your question is listed below:
How long does it take me to make and ship your order?
All items at The Dogs Whiskers are lovely handmade by myself from scratch, and a majority are made to order.
Due to this, orders take around 7 days to make. Although I always endeavour to get all items made and on their way to you as quickly as possible and many items do.
Shipping is only available Monday to Friday, so orders placed on Saturday, Sunday or UK Bank Holiday Monday will be shipped within 7 days of the first working day after order placement.
At times, I can be just overwhelmed with orders, and I will work tirelessly to get these to you as soon as possible, but on occasion it just isn’t feasible to make items fast enough to satisfy the orders without compromising on quality – which I will not do!
If I have to delay the shipping for any reason, I will aim to let you know before the 7 day standard lead time is up.
During busy times of the year such as the run up to Christmas orders can take longer than 7 working days, if this is the case there will be a notice on the website homepage indicating this.
How long does shipping take? And what delivery company will you use?
All parcels are sent by Royal Mail. For UK orders I use either First or Second Class, depending on the method you choose at checkout.
Outside of the United Kingdom I use Royal Mail International Standard or International Tracked and Signed, for higher value items. Both methods take 5-10 working days from shipping to arrive but can take longer if the parcel is held up at customs. Tracking will be provided for all tracked and signed parcels.
Please note that customs charges, taxes, import duty, etc. that are charged by the country of destination are payable by the customer and not by The Dogs Whiskers.
Time or dates stated for delivery are an estimate. We do make every effort to dispatch goods on time, but do not accept liability for failure to deliver within the stated time.
How do I know what size harness to buy for my dog?
I know it can be tempting to guess your dog's size or to base it on a different harness brand you already have. However all brands differ slightly and the best way to make sure you get the right size is to measure your dog. All you need to do is take three simple measurements, these are - their neck and chest and the distance between the two. Take a look at my handy imagery!
Neck - You need to measure where you want the harness to sit around the circumference of the neck, this is normally lower than where they'd wear a collar. Please allow a comfortable two finger width between the your dog and the measure.
Chest - Measure behind their front legs at the widest part of their body. Again, please allow a comfortable two finger width between the your dog and the measure
Neck to Chest - Measure from the base of neck to behind the armpit.
Please use your judgement when walking near cars, roads and traffic as we cannot be held responsible for any incidents that may occur.
Please check your items regularly for signs of wear and tear, and do not use if damaged.
How do I care for your products?
All of my items can be hand washed and should be dried flat. Do not scrub as this will damage the wool.
I need the items for a special occasion. Will it be here in time?
If you need a item for a special occasion and it is within my usual 7 day lead time plus shipping time, please contact me. It may be possible to expedite the order or the shipping, at additional cost, but please check with me first. I would hate to disappoint you!
Will my item look exactly like the pictures on the website or Social Media?
No not always, but it will be as close to the pictures as possible. There are a few good reasons why your item may be slightly different. Firstly, all items are handmade and not mass produced. Secondly, the tweeds I use depending on the fabric batch and the pattern placement on cutting, can effect both the patterns appearance and colour. Thirdly, it can be difficult to portray the colours in the items consistently. This is due to the lighting conditions of the photography, the camera and the brightness of the screen you view the item on.
Do you sell to Wholesale Customers?
I do, but only to a niche clientele. Please contact jenna@thedogswhiskers.co.uk with details of what you would like, and we can then discuss wholesale pricing, minimum order quantities and other terms.
